THE QUESTION
They’re only numbers
on statistical charts.
Sacrifices in the
“war” for oil.
Bones broken, flesh
afire, gasping for breath,
They lay dying in
far-off countries.
Their blood runs day
and night.
Their screams and
groans fill the air.
As their killers
shout for joy-
Obscenities mixed
with laughter, they shout.
Being brain-washed
into killing frenzies,
They believe they
are defending their homeland.
These innocent
bodies and minds,
Killing other
innocent bodies and minds.
I look for the
reason, to make sense of it all.
I ask questions,
that have no answers.
I want to know why
it is that,
Sons and daughters
of elite politicians don’t go to war.
I want to know why
it is that Christians believe in killing.
I ask, but there are
no answers that make sense.
I search and search
why a Christian President would
Not set an example
by heeding the commandments.
I ask questions and
more questions, but
The one that no
Christian war-supporter will answer,
Is the simplest one
of all;
What would Jesus do?
