DR. GRANNY EARTH, N.D.

"I’m 67 years ‘young’, and am following my life-long passion, which is natural
healing and teaching others about weed medicine. I’ve always loved Mother Nature
and have an awesome respect for her wisdom and intelligence. So much so, that I
changed my name legally to Granny Earth in 2002. (Read the details leading up to
this decision in the book, ‘Weed
Medicine’ - Chapter 1)
"When they were small, I would treat my children with remedies that were passed
down to me from my mother. Things like lemon and honey for coughs and the
mustard plaster for lung congestion. For indigestion, I’d make them mint tea and
for a sore throat - gargling with salt water always worked!
"After my divorce in 1969, I sold real estate in the North Hills of Pittsburgh,
PA. Selling houses and dealing with customers 24 hours a day for 20 years caused
me to have a breakdown. After getting myself well and at the age of 54, I went
back to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1999.
"In the mental health field where I worked, I was appalled at the amount of
prescription medications that were used to sustain these patients. As I began
noticing the side effects of these drugs, I remembered more and more about the
old time natural remedies of my childhood and became increasingly dissatisfied
with the occupation I had chosen. It wasn’t long until I enrolled in the Clayton
College of Natural Health to obtain my Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Natural
Health, which I did in 2003 (age 63) and 2005 (age 65). If there’s a message
that I want to convey to everyone, it’s that we’re never too old to learn. In
fact, I believe that constant learning actually keeps us young.
"Over many years
of studying about, growing and harvesting weeds, I was ‘guided’ to develop my
own line of natural healing products. Many of these were used for my self, the
family and of course, friends. A few examples are: Blissful (a tincture
formulated to ‘CURE’ my clinical depression in 2001), Respitone (for all lung
and respiratory problems- tastes good and children love it) and Golden Gincture
(healing salve for all outward wounds and rashes). In all of these formulas, it
is my belief that I was divinely guided as to my choice of weeds and also the
exact formulation used. As always, I firmly believe that Nature is the only true
healer.
"I believe that we each must do what we can to get back to Nature. In
making your own weed medicine, you’re going to be going out looking and
identifying certain weeds that grow around you. In your looking then, you’ll be
out doors, in the sunshine and fresh air. You’ll be getting exercise and you’ll
be getting back to your roots…………back to Nature. And if possible, you just might
start growing you own weeds. Who knows? Maybe you’ll turn your backyard into a
‘weed garden’!
"There’s just no end to the fun and satisfaction that can be found when you
decide to take your health into your own hands. It’ll open up a whole new world
to you! Guaranteed!"

After all the higher education and once becoming a Dr. of Naturopathy, what’s
Granny’s feelings about this new title? “Well, after all my life experience, and after all the schooling, something tells me I’ve just begun to learn - in the big picture of things.”
Yes, Granny Earth is her real and legal name, having changed it in 2002 after she suspected that someone wanted to use it without her permission.
What’s next on Granny's horizon?
Learning how to stay
peaceful and serene in this ever-changing world and sharing her experiences with
other Earth-travelers.
Witty, dedicated and young at heart, when asked her age, Granny is quick to respond, “I’m 67, but only on the outside!”

Do It Yourself Weed Medicine

Words simply cannot
express how very much - I love(ed)
my TRUCK!
If you’ve ever had the desire to paint your
vehicle with your creative brush, I encourage you to do so now. It’s a
great way to express yourself, whatever your particular passion might be.
Mine is Nature, and so the truck was painted with flowers and nature
symbols. Not only was it fun painting it, but when it was finished, it
would bring smiles, waves and friendly conversation where ever I went -
especially in gas stations and parking lots. It was a great way to meet
people and share about my ‘passion’.
So far as I know, there aren’t any laws to
prevent us from expressing ourselves in this way- at least not yet! I used
acrylic paint for the art work and when it was finally finished, I coated
it with Spar, an outdoor polyurethane, clear finish. After the second year
the Spar did start to flake a bit. But, I didn’t have to worry, as the
truck- a Chevy S-10, had to be junked, because the frame was rusted beyond
repair. It was only 10 years old and after all the work of patching the
rust, painting the body and decorating the antenna - well I was just
heart-sick. It seems to me that a vehicle should last longer than 10
years!
Well, the day finally came when the Universe decreed
that it was time for me to get a new vehicle- A 1996 Plymouth Voyager. And
what a beautiful van it was! A week after buying it however, the
transmission decided to go. Thank God for good friends! We now have a new
transmission and are ‘ready to go’! Let the painting begin!

bee actually came to investigate as we were gluing the flowers on!)
