VACCINATIONS- Follow the $$$$ trail
Federal decisions on vaccines are
made in secret by a small committee of “non-accountable experts” who
have conflicts of interest, such as affiliation with manufacturers who
stand to make enormous profits from required use of their product.
Mandatory immunizations have become
accepted collectively as a preventive illness health care service. The
rights of individuals are balanced governmentally with the needs of
the “public interest.” A global movement is aimed at achieving 100%
immunization with 100% of the approved vaccines. Foundation and
vaccine manufacturer grants “flow” to promote vaccines and
computerized registries to track compliance. Government subsidies
abound not only to buy vaccines, but to reward state health
departments for using them. Yet, deaths and serious adverse
side-effects from vaccines are too common.
The Hepatitis B vaccine is a case
in point. Rep. John Mica (R-FL) held a hearing of the Criminal
Justice, Drug Policy and Human Resources Subcommittee of the House
Government Reform Committee May 18, 1999, to explore whether hepatitis
B vaccine is helping or hurting public health. He noted that while
almost all the states that mandate childhood vaccinations allow
exemptions, the information sheet does not tell parents this. Most
parents do not know about ‘vaccination
exemption’.
Kristine M. Severyn, R.Ph., Ph.D.,
director of the Vaccine Policy Institute writes in the Vaccine News
, July, 1999 that the Centers for Disease Control “usually recommends
any new vaccine licensed by the FDA for all children, and virtually
all states step in line to mandate the new shots. Why? CDC's
controlling influence on individual state immunization programs is so
pervasive, because these programs are funded and staffed by the CDC.
This means that when you call the immunization program in your state
capital, you will probably speak to a federal government civil servant
employed by the CDC. This raises again the issue of how much of the
U.S. is governed by corporate policy makers and their influence in
governmental agencies and Congress. The close relationship between the
CDC and the drug companies fuels the rapid influx of new vaccines.
The FDA is involved in such relationships, as pharmaceutical company
representatives sit on committees at the FDA determining policy.

Who sets vaccination policy in the
U.S. and the states? The Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices, a group of individuals hand-picked by members of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, recommends which vaccines
are administered to American children. Working mainly in secret, ACIP
members frequently have financial links to vaccine manufacturers.
Dependent on federal CDC funding, administrators of state vaccination
programs follow CDC directives by influencing state legislators to
mandate new vaccines. Federal vaccine funds can be denied to states
that do not “vigorously enforce” mandatory vaccination laws.
Conversely, the CDC offers financial bounties ($$$$$) to state
Departments of Health for each “fully vaccinated” child. In a recent
year, the Ohio Department of Health received $1 million in such CDC
bonus payments. - Kristine M. Severyn, Ph.D., director of the Vaccine
Policy Institute. ( Well Being Journal)
Senators Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.)
and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) introduced the "Project Bio-Shield II Act
of 2005" (S. 975) on April 29, 2005. The bill builds upon the
first BioShield bill, which was signed into law on 7- 21-04,
and authorized $5.6 billion over 10 yrs. to encourage pharmaceutical
and biotechnology companies to develop bioterrorism counter-measures.
BioShield II would provide additional liability
protections for firms creating vaccines or drugs that cause
injuries. No action has been scheduled on the bill yet.” - Nancy

“When you take into account the billions of
dollars at stake in vaccination campaigns, it’s not surprising that
vaccination propaganda is foisted upon the public with almost
religious fervor. The intense psychological pressure and fear that
parents feel about vaccinating their children is no accident, but is
the result of well-planned, well-funded marketing campaigns.” - Jini
Patel Thompson (www.wellbeingjournal.com/vaccinate)
